TEACHING AND TRAINING

We are a training practice and have one or two GP Registrars with us. These are fully qualified doctors who have usually worked at least three years in hospital. Registrars join us in the practice to gain additional experience in general practice and normally stay for six months. Video recording may be used occasionally during consultations. You will be advised if this is to happen and have the right not to be recorded if you so wish. Recordings are used only with your specific permission for the training and assessment of doctors. We also teach medical students from HYMS (Hull & York Medical School).

PATIENT TRANSPORT

If you have a problem getting to the surgery for an appointment, RSVP run a volunteer patient transport service. Bookings are made through reception but unfortunately cannot be taken for the same day, so please give as much notice as possible. There is a mileage charge to cover expenses.

ACCESS FOR THE DISABLED

We have good access for the disabled. Please let the receptionist know if you need any special help when you make an appointment. There is an area at the back of the building reserved for emergency vehicles. Cars can pull up here and patients can use the side door where access can be obtained by pressing the buzzer and asking the receptionist to open the door.

PATIENT COMMUNICATIONS

Occasionally, we distribute a newsletter to keep you up to date with developments in the practice. The practice has a Patient Liaison Group which meets three times a year. Each village has a representative on the group who will be only too happy to raise any matters with the doctors on your behalf. If you require contact details for your representative please ask at reception. We also have a virtual group using a Marshes Patient Participation Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/groups/198997323471801

PATIENT ADVICE AND LIAISON SERVICE (PALS)

Comments, concerns and suggestions can also be raised through PALS. PALS can give information and sort out problems quickly on a patient's behalf and can also give information and advice about the NHS complaints procedure.

Contact details: telephone 01377 208823 or write to PALS, NHSERY, Health House, Grange Park Lane, Willerby, HU10 6DT.

PATIENTS ACTING VIOLENTLY OR ABUSIVELY

Any patient who physically or verbally abuses any member of the practice staff will immediately be removed from the practice’s list. Thereafter, if the patient needs to see a GP they will have to attend The Quays in Myton Street, Hull. This practice has been specifically contracted by NHSERY to deal with violent patients.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION – PUBLICATION SCHEME

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is a guide to the ‘classes’ of information the practice intends to routinely make available.

This scheme is available from reception. Or by downloading via this link.
