We have a BP machine in the sub waiting area so patients can check their own blood pressure.
We offer all new patients an initial health check to enable us to obtain details
of past medical problems and to provide better care.
If you have not had a consultation, for any reason, for over 12 months you can
request a consultation. If, in the doctor’s opinion, you cannot attend the
surgery on medical grounds a visit would be made to your home.
Any patient over the age of 16 but under the age of 75 years who has not attended
the surgery for any reason in the last three years can request a consultation.
All our doctors provide contraceptive services including emergency contraception.
It is crucial to be seen within 72 hours of any potential contraceptive failure
or omission.
Family planning clinics are run by Dr Booth:
1st Monday of month 3.20 - 4.20pm
3rd Monday of month 6.00 - 8.00pm
Appointments are necessary and, as
these are practice-run clinics, non-dispensing patients will have to take any
prescription to a pharmacy.
Dr Foster and Dr Booth assess babies at six to eight weeks. The health visitors offer developmental checks at 7 months, 2 years and 3 1/2 years.
Immunisations are essential to protect children from serious illness and are given by the health visitors and practice nurses according to the following schedule:

Dr Tinker, Dr Brews and Dr Thompson perform minor surgery.
Dr Tinker and Dr Thompson give joint injections.
In the Autumn, we vaccinate
patients at risk, ie those over 65, diabetics and those with chronic
heart, chest and kidney problems. Whereas a flu jab is required each year, a pneumococcal
pneumonia vaccination is only required once for most patients.
We offer vaccination against tetanus. After an initial course of three injections, only a further two boosters are necessary in a lifetime, for most patients.
The nurses give up-to-date advice about all travel vaccinations. A fee is payable for some injections and you will be advised of this prior to the injection being given. We are a registered Yellow Fever Centre.
Patients with asthma, COPD (chronic bronchitis and emphysema), IHD (heart disease), diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease are invited for regular checks to assess levels of symptoms and to optimise treatment.
A dietician,
physiotherapist, speech therapist and chiropodist visit the practice each week. We also host ultrasound and audiology clinics. Referrals are made through the doctors.
Courses are available at several locations
locally but one is held here at the surgery. Patients
can refer themselves. Tel: 0800 915 5959.
We are happy to undertake medical examinations and
reports for insurance companies, employers and solicitors. As these services are
not covered by the NHS you will be informed of the appropriate fee at the time
of request. A deposit of £10 is required when the appointment for the medical
is confirmed. In the event of cancellation this is refundable, provided 24 hours'
notice has been given.
